SD Card Association has begun to spread its wings beyond the comfort of removable storage, with the now get more focused on a piece of embedded storage market with its fresh, well-called Embedded SD standard.

the association claims that the new which makes use of many tried and true SD standards, should ease the platform design in mobile phones and consumer electronics equipment and accelerate the large-scale release. Among the standard includes both 3.3V and 1.8V power supply, other data-protection and energy saving measures, a flexible mechanism for the partition for more partitions to different types of data, and booting from the embedded SD option.

There is still no word on a special devices that use the standard, you can expect them to max with 32GB on board, memory and 32GB of removable storage.
