Google announced on Thursday that it has used its geographical position Gears API to search for businesses and places in your area easier on Windows Mobile devices.
Google said that searching with My Location estimates your location based using Cell-ID technology which has been used by Google Maps and returns businesses in that area. For example If you want to find the best Chinese restaurants in your place, you can type “Chinese restaurants” into the search panel and press button, and the result of Chinese restaurant in be shown immediately. But it goes beyond businesses and restaurants. Google has also said that if you want to get forecast info in your location, you simply type “weather” and will result weather conditions in your area.
Until now, this feature with my location is only available on Windows Mobile phones for Internet Explorer Mobile’s user in the USA and the UK, but Google said that wider support is available if it continues to conclude agreements with suppliers.
To use the new service now, go to Google.com, just click on My Location link, and there you go…
