Do you remember how awesome it was when you upgrade your old VHS tapes to DVDs? The photo was way more clearly and the sound was great, right? Well another technology shift of even greater proportions is on the horizon in the home-entertainment industry.

A standard DVD or DVD-R disc has about 4.7 gigabytes of storage space, but the new Blu-Ray discs have more than 25 gigabytes of storage on a single-layer disc and 50 GB on a dual-layer disc! And all those extra space, more than 10 times more than a normal DVD, not lost. Films in Blu-Ray format will have clear, a life as High Definition images and superior digital sound. This unprecedented high quality combined with a 1080p High-Definition TV will be like nothing you have ever seen. Are you salivating yet?

The only thing that stops you walk to your nearest Circuit City, Best Buy or Sony Style pick up Blu-Ray player and a couple of movies to go with this (and if you are really ambitious, you can buy a Blu – Ray disc burner too) is the great and almost heavy price tag.

Today, a stand-alone Blu-Ray player costs about $ 1000, with each film at about $ 50, meaning it would be a significant part of that part of your bank you to the direction of home entertainment. Now if you have a phone number that will not be a problem year, but what about the rest of us?

Well, as with any new and emerging technology, the price will be very high in the beginning, which means that mostly technicians and people who do not mind dishing out a few thousand dollars will buy. But with time (perhaps even in time for the holiday season 2006), the price will fall to the affordable. And for those of you who absolutely can not wait for one of these awesome pieces of the technology in your living room, you will be glad to hear that the new Sony Playstation 3 comes in November 2006 comes equipped with a Blu-Ray player. This next-gen console will cost about $ 600, a bargain for only the Blu-ray player.

The Playstation 3 will be the most powerful gaming machine ever released in the form of raw computing power. He has a new technology called a “Cell” chip, which works as 9 CPU microchips in one. This ensures burning speeds and spectacular graphics, especially when it comes to running many programs simultaneously.

So, how do you obtain this tantalizing cinematic machine without overdrawing your checking account? My advice is to wait until the holiday season. The mainstream will have caught wind of the new Blu-Ray technology and is a holiday must-have. The price will inevitably be lower, and it will be your choice whether you want to proceed with a stand-alone player or a PS3.
