UBUNTU MUSLIM EDITION 8.10 (Ubuntu ME 8.10) released today. It’s a free, open source operating system based on the popular Ubuntu Linux.

The Ubuntu Muslim Edition 8.10 is currently available as an installable DVD and comes with lots of functional software included.
In the education section they added full suite of softwares for kids like Kturtle, TuxMath, GCompris, TuxPaint, Stellarium and Celestia applications. In the multimedia side, the UbuntuME team added libraries for reading DVDs, flash player, codecs, vlc etc. For better Arabic Support, the language-pack-ar, aspell-ar, acon and bicon packages were also added.

The Ubuntu ME 8.10 provides a family safe application ‘WebStrict’, so you can get rid of one item in your worry list when your kids accessing the internet.
Here are some other highlights:
- Zekr 0.7.0, an application to help you study the Quran. 1 installed and configured to play Quran recitations
- Minbar and Mozilla Firefox “Pray Times” addon installed
- Monajat, an application that displays Islamic prayers;
- Thwab, an encyclopedia software;
- Custom UbuntuME artworks for the boot splash, login screen, desktop wallpapers and GNOME theme.
